FAQ about Covid_19

Below are a series of questions that have been asked to us from various parts of the world, do not hesitate to ask us questions about the Covid_19 situation in Madagascar.

Who needs to be vaccinated before they can participate in a trip?

All those who take a tour or excursion must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of arrival in Madagascar, and to safeguard their health and that of the people who live in the locations you will visit with our tours / excursions .

All travelers are required to produce:

  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination via QR code and paper-based vaccination certificate.
  • Children between 5 and 11 years of age are exempt from the vaccination obligation.

To join a tour / stay, you must provide:

  • Proof of vaccination status (for eligible children); or
  • Evidence of a negative COVID-19 test conducted no more than 72 hours prior to the flight to Madagascar to be presented to local authorities upon arrival;

Children aged 4 and under are not required to provide any documentation to travel with us.

In all cases, you must be fully vaccinated.
This means that you must receive the full dosage of the COVID-19 vaccine and allow sufficient time for immunity to take effect. Each COVID-19 vaccine has different dosages and times of inoculation, so please check the relevant medical advice associated with the vaccine.

What vaccines are recognized in Madagascar?

Any vaccine that has been authorized for use by the national competent authority for COVID-19 in the country where the vaccine was administered is currently recognized, including well-known vaccines such as Oxford AstraZeneca, Pfizer-BioNtech, Sinopharm, Sinovac, Sputnik, Johnson & Johnson, Moderna and Covaxin.

What is required as proof of vaccination?

A copy of the vaccination certificate (paper and digital) is required.

You will be required to present this proof at the Welcome Meeting upon your arrival.

What if someone on a trip shows symptoms of COVID-19?

If someone has symptoms of COVID-19 during the stay/tour, they will be required to undergo a rapid COVID-19 PCR test and wait for the test result and evaluate all procedures to be performed.

What if I or someone else tests positive for COVID-19 during a stay / tour?

If someone tests positive for COVID-19 while traveling, TOG will handle it as a health and safety incident.

The person who tested positive will have to leave the trip for their own health and safety and that of others.

Guests will be assisted for testing procedures or medical treatment if necessary by our staff and assisted in isolating or quarantining or hotel isolation as required by local regulations.

TOG staff will monitor the situation and assist guests with any necessary services, such as contacting insurance companies, travel agents and / or airlines as needed.

Any rest of the group will need to undergo the COVID-19 PRC test and wait for the result before they can continue their stay / tour.

Please note that local regulations in Madagascar will not allow the group to continue traveling following a positive case and the various tours / excursions will be canceled.

Are all staff (sailors, drivers, cooks, guides and more) vaccinated?

All staff followed all local vaccination-related regulations and practices.

If I have to take a test while traveling, do I have to pay for it?

We encourage you to bring your own quick tests from home wherever possible.
You should be ready to shop for testing if needed.
The costs for the tests vary according to the locations.

A very limited number of quick tests will be available through our guides, but these cannot always be guaranteed.
