Description
Difficulty +2 Excursion carried out with measures against Covid 19

After the meeting with the guide we cross the island, in minivan to admire a series of tropical landscapes with the lush green of the sugar cane fields and the dazzling white of the coral beaches.
We will pass by the village of Dzamandzar, the second largest city on the island famous for its former rum distillery, once the heart of the economy of Nosy Be.

We then continue towards Chanty Beach where we board a boat to cross a stretch of sea that separates Nosy Be from the smaller island of Nosy Sakatia.

On board small motorboats we begin our fascinating journey to discover local customs and traditions.

Our first stop is the large beach of Ampasindava, north of the island of Sakatia, where we can relax on the long white shores and enjoy the crystal clear water and with a little luck we can admire the sea turtle holes after laying their eggs. .

Back to our boats, we briefly sail towards the coast to arrive at the village of Antanambe.

Although a small community of traditional huts, this village encompasses all the history and customs of the Sakalava, one of the most common Malagasy ethnic groups in Madagascar.
Here we will learn how Malagasy build their homes, discover their cuisine and see their simple but precious handicrafts.

Returning to the mooring of the boat, we can admire a series of enchanting coves where the vegetation seems to fall straight into the sea.

We will stop at the beach for a refreshing swim and snorkel, allowing us to admire underwater views of rare beauty, with coral bottoms and brightly colored fish.

Another short boat ride takes us to our final destination, a simple and charming resort where we can relax by the pool and savor the delicious and fragrant local cuisine.

In the afternoon return to the hotel.

What to Expect

A journey into the natural wonders of the island of Nosy Sakatia and the local traditions of its population to experience the authentic Malagasy lifestyle in this region, without depriving ourselves of the joys of modern travel, from diving to the comfort of the resort where we’ll enjoy our lunch.

Tips
  • Transport and facilities in Madagascar are not necessarily of the standard usually found in developed countries.
  • The local boats used in this excursion are generally quite small, so there is a risk that participants will get wet.
  • To participate in this excursion you must be able to swim.
  • As such, we do not recommend this excursion to guests who have back problems or who are otherwise not at peak fitness.
  • Wildlife sightings are not guaranteed, since they depend on the behavior of the animals themselves or according to weather and sea conditions.
  • The color of the water and the visibility may vary depending on the weather.

  • Do not forget to bring your swimsuit, towels, sunglasses, sun cream, insect repellent for walks inside or adjacent to the forest/parks, your camera, and a long-sleeved, cotton top during the bath/snorkeling/trekking.
  • Toilets will be of local standards.
  • The excursion may be subject to variations in timing according to weather and sea conditions. Remember that the coral reef and everything that lives in it are really delicate, the PH of our skin is more acidic than the carapace of turtles, fish skin and corals, so if we touch them we risk contaminating them and causing them to die. All of us, guests of the Ocean, help us to introduce the next generation to the magical life of the coral reef.
